Some people spend impulsively every time
they stepped into a mall to buy only the simplest of things. This is a very bad
habit and need to be broken. Because if you fail to solve it, you'll get deep
into credit card debt before you know it.
If you are an impulsive spender, here are
some things you can do to break the destructive habits:
1. Do not use shopping as a way to
relieve stress. Some people go to the mall as a form of diversion for their
problems. If you do this, then you really push your tendency to be an impulsive
shopper. If you have a problem and you want to get away from them, do not go to
the mall or where you can spend the money. You will not be able to resist the
temptation.
2. Simply stay away from malls and
similar companies. Every time you feel you are heading toward the mall area,
not daring himself to stand the test of wills. If you win, then that's great.
But what happens when you lose? You will lose your money as well. And that's
the sad reality. Unless you're strong enough, do not do it.
3. Have the support of family and
friends. Tell your friends that you're doing something to address your
impulsive buying habits. If they are real friends, then they should know better
than to ask you out on the fun shop-till-you-drop. They also have to cooperate
to help you and support you with your trying to do. Talks only of the latest
items for sale at the mall is a no-no.
4. Reward yourself. Tell yourself that
every time you hold an instance of an impulse buy, you enjoy it. A nice meal at
the restaurant must be good. Or a vacation out of town even if you managed to
resist the urge to buy for a full month or more.
5. Do not use credit cards. Some people buy
on impulse because they only have a credit limit on their card for backup. If
you need to go the store to buy something, then make sure you leave your credit
cards at home. Just bring enough money to buy what you need. If you do, then
you will not buy anything more than you actually go.
